Handling Two Types of Liability

Updated: Mar 22, 2018

Us at The Peninsula must ensure to stay on top of our responsibilities and duty of care. Guest’s safety is one of the important responsibilities of our high quality service. When facing a liability we want to make sure we gather all needed information about the situation.

For example if any of our guest slips and fall in our lobby. First, we have to check our guest’s health and identify if they need any urgent medical care. Then we will observe the fall situation and for any hazards. The hotel will take care of the medical bills and would compliment their current visit, offer a complementary stay for the next time and food and beverage credits if we acted liable in anyway. After we conduct further steps that need to be taken to prevent this situation from happening again.

Another example that our hotel might face is sexual harassment. For example Harvey Weinstein was accused of abusing hotel workers at our Beverly Hills Location. The housekeepers were sexually assaulted during multiple stays. We can not tolerate this behavior by any guests. We would bring in a team of investigators and find out how this happened. We would ban any guest who acted in this manner towards our employees and also press charges. We will not tolerate any assaults towards our employees.

We at The Peninsula take care of our employees and it our priority to make sure they feel safe. We will be implementing steps to reduce the chance of this happening again, one thing we will do is will provide the housekeepers with safety buttons. Create safety sessions where our staff can learn how to deal with this kind of situations. We will make sure to deliver a statement that our employees must talk about these problems as they arise.
